For the last two days Marie had been glued to her laptop browsing the Internet for data, photos, and plans of outdoor fireplaces. She has read plenty of articles, gazed at hundreds of colorful pictures, and studied detailed structural plans of fireplaces. Since forever she had wanted to put up one in her backyard garden.

Her garden is her pride and joy. She spends hours tending to her flowers and plants, and even talking with them because she read somewhere that they respond to mellifluous talk. With the carefully arranged reds, yellows, violets, and greens in her garden, it is appealing as it is but she always felt something was lacking. Finally, leafing through an old copy of Architectural Digest while waiting in her dentist’s anteroom, she realized what her garden needed –a centerpiece that immediately grabs anyone’s attention.
